Name: Joan Worrall White (Mrs. Richard A.)

Family: My Grandmother and Mother were born in Cooperstown. Both called this Village home, into their late 90's. I have called this home since 1950. My late husband, Dick White, owned and operated Bruce Hall Corp. We raised our family here: two daughters, Ann Mithoefer and Robin Torrence, and two sons, Brian Jacobson and Mark Jacobson. For many years, I owned and operated The Smart Shop and Village Squire on Main St. My daughter, Robin, and her husband, Rod, started Stagecoach Coffee in Cooperstown. I am fortunate to have family that have moved back here to go into business, purchase homes and start their families here.

Where I stand ...
  • Contracting with Sheriffs Department - I believe it is our fiscal responsibility to explore this option.
  • Resolving Police Chief situation - I don't have enough hard facts of the situation to make a comment at this time.
  • Sidewalks & Streets-The residents and taxpayers should always have safe sidewalks and streets in their Village. It is the Village Board's responsibility to see that funds are available to do the job.
  • Downtown Issues - We must continue to look at ways to help our small businesses and property owners on Main Street. Their health and well-being are vital to our Village.
  • Paid Parking - Paid parking is a revenue-only issue. There is no other benefit. We do not have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem.
Skills, Talents, Approaches
  • My roots run deep in our community. I have my finger on the pulse of this Village in many unique and diverse ways that I believe will lead me to being an excellent choice for Trustee.
  • I have been grounded and have proved my loyalties to our Village for over 50 years. I am not a rebel rouser. I do not like conflict. It creates a negative atmosphere that keeps the job from being accomplished. I do not write letters. I do not believe politics should play a role in Village government. My leadership, honesty and integrity are well-known. My common sense and proven ability to get a job done, teamed with my running mates' backgrounds in finance, unique problem-solving skills and background of serving as Trustee of the Village make me a unique and best candidate for Trustee.
  • I will listen twice as much as I will talk.
